CNS Facilities

Within AT-One the following facilities are available in the area of Communication and Navigation Systems (CNS).

Ground Based Augmentation System (GBAS)

The Ground Based Augmentation System (GBAS) is a satellite-based precision landing system for aircraft. At Braunschweig-Wolfsburg airport, DLR operates its own GBAS station to research precision approach procedures based on satellite navigation data.

Data Link Station

DLR operates an efficient air-ground data link for analysing air-ground integration, remote control of aircraft and for assisting flight tests. The distinctive landmark of this data link station is a 30-metre-high antenna tower.

Multilateration System (MLAT)

The multilateration system (MLAT) at Braunschweig-Wolfsburg airport offers unique sensor technology that enables the highly accurate surveillance of arriving and departing objects as well as ground objects. It allows new procedures and technology to be researched under realistic conditions.

TRADEF

TRADEF is a platform consisting of hardware and software to accommodates the development, testing and validation of tracker software. Typical parts of the TRADEF facility are data inspection/manipulation tools (asterix, madrec), simulation environment for generation of realistic traffic, testbed for running tracker software and evaluation environment for tracker output.
